
Born on the Southside of Chicago, Angelique is the youngest of seven children. Growing up in a single-parent home for most of her childhood, Angelique remembers the struggles and sacrifices her mother made for her family. As a result, Angelique grew up with a passion for advocating for underserved populations. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from Georgia State University with a certificate in Family and Community Services. She also attended the University of California, Los Angeles where she earned a master’s degree in Social Welfare with a focus in Child and Family Services. Angelique worked several years in South Central Los Angeles where she provided social services to low-income families of diverse populations. She has extensive experience working with individual and family transition and empowerment training towards greater efficacy in negotiating life goals and achievements.
Through a sponsor-funded grant with a local housing authority, Angelique’s position as a Program Director at Georgia State University for nearly eleven years allowed her to positively impact the lives of over 15,000 low-income families in Atlanta through delivering quality services and connecting families to resources. She and her team developed and facilitated curriculum for adult and youth learners in areas of self-sufficiency including conflict resolution, parenting education & lifelong learning, building effective relationships with neighbors and landlords, community expectations, and financial literacy.
In addition, Angelique worked as an adjunct professor for over ten years with the University of Phoenix and Purdue University Global (previously Kaplan University). Her experiences as an adjunct professor included teaching students from varies cultures, ethnicities, and socioeconomic backgrounds in Health and Human Services. She worked several years as a lead instructor and provided leadership in curriculum planning and development. She also taught GED classes at a local community college.
Angelique’s hobbies include making aromatherapy lotions and candles, cooking and eating various ethnic foods. She loves walking, traveling, dogs, outdoor concerts with her family, jazz, and Fall weather. Angelique has a loving husband and two adult stepchildren.
