Born on the Southside of Chicago, Angelique is the youngest of seven children. Growing up in a single-parent home for the majority of her childhood, Angelique remembers the struggles and scarifies her mother made for her family. As a result, Angelique grew up with a passion for advocating for underserved populations. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from Georgia State University with a certificate in Family and Community Services. She also attended the University of California, Los Angeles where she earned a master’s degree in Social Welfare with a focus in Child and Family Services. Angelique worked several years in South Central Los Angeles where she provided social services to low-income families of diverse populations. She has extensive experience working with individual and family transition and empowerment training towards greater efficacy in negotiating life goals and achievements. Through a sponsor-funded grant with a local housing program, Angelique’s position as a Project Director at Georgia State University for nearly eleven years allowed her to touch the lives of over 15,000 low-income families. She developed and facilitated curriculum for adult and youth learners in areas of self-sufficiency including conflict resolution, parenting education & lifelong learning, building effective relationships with neighbors and landlords, community expectations, and financial literacy.
